William Constable bought many items from Ralph Thoresby’s Museum collection which was sold and dispersed at his death. These have been identified and are on display at Burton Constable House. Having read Thoresby’s Review and the accompanying volume with its article by the Curator of Burton Constable, David Connell, now is your chance to see for yourself. This is a magnificent House with thirty rooms on display with a dedicated cabinet of eighteenth curiosities.

2016 is the tercentenary of Lancelot Capability Brown’s birth and there is an exhibition on his landscape gardening at Burton Constable both in the Stables and in the Hall, looking at eighteenth century Garden Fashion. We should have ample time to explore the grounds as well as the House. There are woodland trails and lakeside walks for those who like to wander .

There is a tearoom for light refreshments or you may prefer to bring a packed lunch.

There is lift access to the first floor and wheelchair loan.
