2020 Miscellany Book Launch

 

2020 MiscelanyOn 13 January 2021 the Society launched the 2020 Miscellany volume. This event had to be held online using Zoom due to Covid 19 restrictions but it was still enjoyed by over 70 people.

Chris Hindle, the editor, spoke about his own article about the history of the Leeds merchant and manufacturing business Hudson, Sykes and Bousefield.

He then spoke about Peter Brears article on brewing at Kirktall between 1152 and 1983 and finally about Michael Collinson's fascinating look at Elizabethan Potternewton and the Hardwick family.

Irfan Shah gave us new insights on Louis Le Prince, the pioneering nineteenth century film maker.

Robert Demaine talked about his article about a visit to Paris in 1906 by a 300 strong Leeds Choir.

Finally Roy Yates looked at the Tudor reformation in Leeds.
