Meet on the street outside Saltaire station at 10.45. Either catch the 10.26 train from Leeds to Saltaire, or drive and park in the village (Pay and Display). We will walk down to the United Reformed Church to meet Mrs Ellin Dooley, common mill worker in costume and character, to be conducted around Sir Titus Salts Model Victorian Industrial village built in 1853 built to house his workers.
After an introduction in the church, each participant will be given a handmade laminated bookmark with the history of a real person who used to live and work in Saltaire. Then the group will be guided around the village finding the houses their
character lived in.
12.45 Make your own arrangements for lunch.
14.15 Meet at Saltaire station to walk up Shipley Glen (or take the funicular for part of the way) to Bracken Hall Countryside Centre. There is one short steep climb up to the road and the walk is about one mile. After visiting the Centre, we will retrace our steps to the station where there are frequent trains back to Leeds.
