Spies, Rebellion and Disorder Leeds Walk led by Shaun Cohen

Meet at The Leeds Library at 14.00 to go on an ‘alternative tour’ of Leeds with Shaun Cohen. We will be visiting Kirkgate, the Corn Exchange, Boar Lane, Park Row, the Town Hall, the Headrow and Briggate before returning to Commercial Street. Some of the fascinating topics Shaun will cover are: Luddism and the Food Riots; Peterloo and Leeds; the Yorkshire Rebellion of 1820; the fight for Parliamentary Reform; The campaign for the 10-hour working day for children; the unknown history of co-operatives; The Chartists; the rise of socialism in the 1880s and Suffragettes.

We will stop for refreshments and loos en route at the Tiled Hall Café in Leeds City Art Gallery. The walk is largely flat and we will be finished by 16.00-16.30.
