PREFACE

This Volume contains the entries in the 13th and 14th Books of the Leeds Parish Churclh Registers, comprising the Baptisms and Burials from July, 1757 to December, 1776, and two Marriage Register Books extencUng from March, 1754, to May, 1769. The entries in the 13th and 14th Books are printed as they appear in the Register Books. The Marriages are abbreviated as described in pages 146 and 351. The whole of the Baptisms and Burials were voluntarily copied by the late Mr. James Singleton, an original member of the Society, who also abstracted the Marriages commencing August, 1755. Mr. Singleton compared the printed Registers from pages 1 to 256 with the original Registers, and after his death Miss Emily Hargrave kindly compared the remainder. The thanks of the Society are due to the Vicar of Leeds, the Rev. Bernard Oliver Francis Heywood, for his kind permission to print the Registers; to Miss Hargrave for completing the collation of the printed copy; to Mr. Jesse Andrews Myers for again kindly undertaking the laborious work of preparing the Indices; to Mr. Brumwell for facilitating the transcription of the Books and collation of the printed proofs.
